    The Instructional Designer (ID) will be responsible for writing engaging instructional materials, using recognized adult learning principles, for multiple delivery methodologies across the organization. The ID will work with organizational leaders and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to conduct needs assessments, develop learning objectives, design engaging learning solutions, and evaluate outcomes. They will work closely with the Education team to develop and deploy learning solutions via online modules, webinars, and traditional classroom environments.

    This role will have the opportunity and freedom to cultivate new and innovative solutions that will benefit our entire client base. Will also require effective communication with internal/external cross-functional teams. Must demonstrate a track record of excellent project management skills.

    Primary interaction is with the Vice President Learning & Organizational Delivery, Director of Education, and L&OD team. There is also high level of interaction with all Matrix team members.

    Responsibilities

    • Create engaging learning activities and compelling course content that enhances learner retention and knowledge transfer
    • Responsible for the design, development, and testing of instructional materials, including the overall quality of the course content and the user experience
    • Responsible for course design, learning objectives, storyboards, assessments and other instructional material
    • Responsible for the maintenance and update of course content, including content refresh and course technology suitability
    • Organize and maintain schedules to ensure steady workflow of course material development
    • Edit all content for style, accuracy, and meaning
    • Act as a learning consultant offering recommendations for enhancing course material, overall design and ease of learner use of both synchronous and asynchronous learning materials
    • Conduct instructional research and analysis on learners and contexts
    • Apply tested instructional design theories, practice and methods
    • Provide exercises and activities that enhance the learning process
    • Decide on the criteria used to judge learner’s performance and develop assessment instruments
    • Maintain organized project documentation and course folders
    • Perform other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    • Excellent knowledge of adult learning theories and instructional design models
    • Lesson and curriculum planning skills
    • Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio scripts/video scripts
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience utilizing a recognized adult learning theory (e.g. ADDIE) a plus
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate clear and concise written content, and effective verbal and written communication skills in both individual and team settings
    • Must be organized, detail oriented and able to manage multiple projects at a time, and meet deadlines
    • Experience in a functional training role with emphasis on design and business process training development and design
    • Experience writing original and innovative technical training courses including self-paced learning content and/or e-learning and web-based training
    • Foundational knowledge and understanding of adult learning theory and instructional design techniques
    • Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills
    • A self-starter that is able to work under minimal supervision, is multi-tasking, has the ability to meet deadlines under strict time-frames, all while producing quality deliverables
    • Software requirements: Proficiency with Microsoft tools. Exposure to Storyline, Camtasia, Captivate or Lectora preferred
